A FEW WORDS ABOUT OUR FAMILY HISTORY….

The name SCHERMER has a long history.
The family tree has been traced back as far as 1488.

The FAMILY CREST was awarded to the Schermers in 1544 by the Emperor Karl V.

The family has lived in the Brixental since 1668. The entailed estate “JAGA” in “Brixen im Thale”, the next village, has been passed from generation to generation until the present day.

In 1976 the ”JAGAHOF“, the adjoining sand and gravel pit, as well as the mountain estate were taken over by Markus Schermer from his father. 24 years later they were passed on to his son, Markus jun., the brother of the current hotel manager.

In 1986 the old stable was replaced by a new, modern system known as play-pens, where the animals were no longer tethered.
Awarded the “Goldenen Milchgütesiegel”, the JAGAHOF delivers around 320.000l of fresh milk of the highest quality produced by a herd of some 40 dairy cows.
For 20 years we have no longer used artifical manure or fertilisers!

So enjoy the milk – it is a natural and valuable product! Not only milk, but also other products like meat or fruit from the JAGAHOF are used in our kitchen.

The Schermer Family, Markus and Elisabeth, laid the foundations of the hotel in 1957 . They started with a small “milkshake bar” and soon developed it into a snack bar and later into a small guesthouse. In 1965 they expanded again, with more beds and the “Gaststube”, where you can still enjoy your meals and drinks today.

Following more building work in 1980 the hotel grew again and achieved a rating of 4-star, with about 70 beds, indoor swimming pool and sauna area.  In December 2000,  Jakob and Andrea Schermer took over the management of the hotel. In 2003 they began the last extension and renovation programme, and the new family run spa-hotel was born. After renovating the original “Gaststube” in spring 2008 we were awarded the 4 star SUPERIOR rating

The senior members of the family are still to be found in and around the hotel, and enjoy meeting up and chatting to the guests.
