Westendorf is located on a sunny plateau
in the heart of the Kitzbühel mountains.
The community was awarded first prize for “Europe’s most beautiful village in bloom” in 1998.
Our small Tyrolean community is situated away from the main road traffic, on the sunny Brixental plateau, just 15km from Kitzbühel.
The resort is lively in winter, quiet and relaxing in summer.
This is a true paradise for nature lovers, relaxation and the “good life”.
FOR OUR ACTIVE GUESTS
There are plenty of things to see and discover in our village.
The mountains make a wonderful setting for all kinds of sports.
Activities:
Large public swimming pool complex, paragliding school, beautyful cycle paths, mountain biking, hiking trails, the new “Path of Wellbeing”, summit tours, tennis courts, horse carriage rides, cable cars taking you up to our local mountains, the animal trail “Apinolino” theme park for kids, our romantic valley , the “Windautal” and a lots more.
Westendorf was voted “Europe´s Most Beautiful Village in Bloom” by the international “Entente Florale” panel in 1998. We are very proud of this and a short walk around the village shows just how lovingly the locals look after their houses and gardens.
HISTORY AND TRADITIONS
These are still cherished in Westendorf and are very important to community life. First mentioned in a document in 1240, our region was a bone of contention of the surrounding regions’ counts and sovereigns.
The traditional “Antlassritt” parade dates back to the 30 Years War and is traditionally celebrated by the farmers at Corpus Christi.
In 1816 the Brixental finally became part of the Land Tirol.
